Physical Disability Support at Home in West Midlands
At OliveCross Healthcare, we empower people living with physical disabilities across West Midlands to maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life in their own homes. Whether you have a mobility disability, use a wheelchair, have cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, or any other physical disability, our person-centred support enables you to access the activities and relationships that matter most to you.
Our experienced team, led by a clinically qualified Registered Manager, understands the diverse needs of people with disabilities and provides support that respects your autonomy and choices.

What is Physical Disability Support?
Physical disability support encompasses personalised domiciliary care designed to help people with mobility, sensory, or other physical disabilities manage daily living activities, maintain social participation, and access community activities.
Unlike care focused solely on older people, disability support recognises that disabled people of all ages have goals around education, employment, relationships, hobbies, and community involvement. Our support is not about imposing a care model; it is about enabling you to live the life you choose.
This might include help with personal care, mobility support, household tasks, access to work or education, social activities, or health management.

From mobility and personal care to community access and advocacy — every service designed to amplify your independence.

Mobility Assistance and Physical Support
We provide safe, respectful physical support with mobility, transfers, and movement. This includes help getting out of bed, moving around your home safely, using stairs or ramps, and accessing community spaces. Our team receives manual handling training to prevent injury to you and themselves, and we support you to use your own mobility aids effectively.
Wheelchair Support and Maintenance
For people who use wheelchairs, we provide practical support with wheelchair transfers, safe pushing techniques, wheelchair maintenance and cleaning, and ensuring wheelchair accessibility in your home and community. We respect your wheelchair as part of your body and identity, not merely a mobility aid.
Personal Care and Hygiene
We support personal care with sensitivity and respect to your privacy and dignity. This includes help with washing, bathing, showering, toileting, dressing, and grooming, adapted to your specific physical needs and abilities. We use hoisting equipment or manual techniques as appropriate.
Home Modifications and Accessibility Support
We can advise on home modifications that increase accessibility, such as grab rails, level-access showers, ramps, or widening doorways for wheelchair access. We work with occupational therapists and can support you to access funding for adaptations through West Midlands Council or health services.
Kitchen and Meal Preparation Support
We help with meal planning, shopping (online or in person), food preparation, and cooking. We can adapt this support to your physical capabilities and help you develop skills to become as independent as possible in this area.
Household Management
Support with cleaning, tidying, laundry, and other household tasks, tailored to your needs and preferences. We help you maintain a safe, clean, comfortable home environment.
Medication Management
We help with medication reminders, administration, and organisation. We work with your pharmacy and GP to ensure you understand your medications and any side effects.
Health Monitoring and Support
Our team monitors your health and recognises signs of infection, pain, or other health problems that might need medical attention. We maintain regular communication with your GP and other healthcare providers.
Socialisation and Community Access
We support your access to social activities, hobbies, work, education, or volunteer opportunities. This might include help with transport (driving you or helping you access transport), accessing community venues, or organising social activities.
Technology and Communication Support
For people with disabilities affecting communication or access to technology, we provide support with communication aids, computers, phones, and other assistive technology.
Respite and Carer SupportI
If you have family carers, we offer respite care to give them a break. This supports both you and your family and prevents carer burnout.
Advocacy and Empowerment
We support you to understand your rights, access appropriate services, claim benefits you are entitled to, and advocate for yourself with services. We empower you to make decisions about your own care and life.

How Much Does Physical Disability Support Cost?
Costs are based on your assessed needs and schedule. We'll confirm exact pricing after your free home assessment. No hidden charges.
Example Costs: 1 hour visit (personal care, meals, support with activities): £25 to £35 2-hour morning visit (personal care, breakfast, household tasks): £50 to £70 4-hour day visit (comprehensive daily living support): £100 to £140 6-hour day visit: £150 to £210 8-hour day visit: £200 to £280

Funding Your Disability Support
From council direct payments to PIP and NHS funding we'll help you understand and access every option you're entitled to.
Direct Payments from West Midlands Council
If you have been assessed by West Midlands Council Adult Services as having eligible care needs, you can receive Direct Payments (or Direct Funding). These are payments you control to purchase care services directly, including from OliveCross Healthcare. Direct Payments offer maximum flexibility and choice. Contact the Direct Payments team on 01902 551294.
West Midlands Council Funding Assessment
You are entitled to a free care assessment from West Midlands Council under the Care Act. This assessment determines your eligible needs and any council funding you might receive. Funding depends on your assessed needs and your financial circumstances. The savings threshold is £23,250; above this, you are typically classified as a self-funder.
Individual Budgets and Personal Health Budgets
Some people receive Individual Budgets (combining council and other funding sources) or Personal Health Budgets from the NHS, particularly if you have NHS Continuing Healthcare funding. These allow you to purchase care flexibly.
NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
If your support needs are primarily health-related (rather than social care), you may be eligible for free NHS CHC funding. This is assessed through a specialist assessment. CHC is non-means-tested and covers the full cost of care.
Employment Support Allowance
If you are of working age and unable to work due to your disability, you may be entitled to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA). This benefit can help support care costs.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
If you are of working age and have a disability affecting mobility or self-care, you may qualify for PIP, a non-means-tested benefit worth up to £405 per month (as of 2026). PIP can help fund care costs.
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
If you are under 16 or already receiving DLA, you may continue to receive it. DLA is a non-means-tested benefit for disabled children and young people.
Attendance Allowance
If you are over 65 and require help with personal care or supervision due to disability, you may qualify for Attendance Allowance (up to £108.55 per week as of 2026).
Self-Funding
Some disabled people choose to self-fund care privately, offering maximum flexibility and choice of provider.
Blue Badge and Travel Costs
If you have a mobility disability, you may be entitled to a Blue Badge (disabled parking permit) or Travel Concessions from West Midlands Council, reducing transport costs.
